William LeQuier, a member of the American Studio Glass movement, created this vessel through a complicated process of freeblowing forms wrapped with clear glass, sand-blasted, cut on a diamond wheel, then acid-etched to create a waxy-looking surface. While the object exhibits a strong sculptural quality, it maintains a connection with the traditional vessel form.
